Virgil M. Burnett, 81, died Tuesday, March 9, 1999 in the Chandler Health Care Center, in Chandler, Az., after a lengthy illness. There were no services. Arrangements were made by Wyman Mortuary of Chandler, Az.

Virgil was born August 28, 1917 to Charles and Lura (Fountain) Burnett in Iowa City. He served for 12 years in the Armed Services and National Guard during and after World War II. He worked as a plumber for Larew and Co. and Mulford and Sons. He lived in Lone Tree and the Iowa City area before retiring to Arizona in 1978.

Survivors include his wife, Gwendolyn (Loan) Burnett, a sister Delores/Don Walton of Iowa City; children: Sherry/Howard Herbert of Wales, Wisconsin; Christine/Harold McAllister of Chino Valley, Arizona; David/Donna Burnett of Lone Tree, Iowa; Steven/Patricia Burnett of Las Vegas, Nevada; Diane/Van Mills of Snowflake, Arizona, and 15 grandchildren.
