August Francis Baer, born April 22, 1918, in St. Louis, Mo., to August L. and Margaret Shultz Baer, died Sunday, May 13, 2007 at his residence, Catherine Place, Daphne.
He was a longtime resident of Mobile, where he retired in 1974 as a supervisory structural engineer and chief of hydraulic structures section in the Mobile District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Ruth Baer and Rose Baer of St. Louis.
Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, Juliet Charlotte DeBisschop Baer; four children; 12 grand children; 13 great-grandchildren, one step great- grandchild, and two sisters.
A memorial Mass and visitation were held Saturday, May 19 at Christ the King Catholic Church. Interment followed at Belforest Catholic Cemetery near Daphne. The family requests memorial donations be made to Mercy Medical, 101 Villa Drive, Daphne, AL 36526. Arrangements were made by Hughes Cremation & Funeral Services, Daphne.
