Mrs. Ora Rachel Hawk, 70, Osawatomie, died Friday, Dec. 29, 1978 at the Miami County Hospital after a long illness. She was born Sept. 9, 1908 at Scranton, the daughter of Henry and Myrtle Warner Cowen. She attended the Scranton schools and received a teaching certificate from Kansas State Teachers College of Emporia. She taught two years in the Scranton schools.

Sept. 15, 1933, she was married at Scranton to Willis E. Hawk. They had lived in Osawatomie since 1947, moving there from Topeka.

Mrs. Hawk was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Osawatomie, the Osawatomie Business and Professional Women's Club, the O'Swan EHU and the Monday Club.

Survivors include her husband of the home, two sons, Richard Cowen Hawk, St. Paul, Minn., and Ray Warner Hawk, Kansas City; one daughter, Mrs. Rachel Bolton, Osawatomie, and six grandchildren.

The Rev. Gene Riley conducted services in the Eddy-Birchard Chapel in Osawatomie at 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Mrs. Nelle Dollar was the organist. Pallbearers were Paul Donovan, Archie Parks, Olin Church, William Robinson, Larkin Bussell and R.C. Harmony.

Services were conducted at the graveside in the Scranton Cemetery by the Rev. A. Otis Beach.
