Mrs. Marie Elliott, 59 years old late resident of Carlton
and formerly of vernonia, died October 15 at the Forest
Grove Community hospital. Mrs. Elliott had been treating
a heart condition for the past three years and was stricken again while returning from a trip from Kansas October 13, 1969.
Funeral services for Mrs. Elliott were held at Fulten's Mortuary chapel, Vernonia Saturday, October 18, at 1:30 p.m. The Rev. Raymound Targgart Minister of the Vernonia Evangelical Church, officiated at the services with Mrs. Lloyd Thomas, organist.Concluding rites and interment were at Vernonia Memorial Cemetery with John Bullis, Ed Willer III, Bill Horn, Bob Spencer, Harry Emmons and Walt Parker serving as pall bearers.
Mrs. Elliott was a native of Birch Tree Missouri whereshe was born April 10, 1910. The daughter of James and Emma Cox Bafford. She spent her early life there and then came here with her family in 1926, first living at Eugene and then in 1927 coming to Vernonia.
She was united in marriage to Elton "Pidge" Elliott at Vancouver Wa. on June 1 1928 and spent their early married llife at Vernonia and later lived in Burns, Roseburg, Sweet Home and Eureka and in 1961 moved back
Vernonia. Last year they moved to Carlton.
