Harold R. Free, age 89, a resident of the Manitowoc Health & Rehabilitation Center, Manitowoc, died on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2009, at the center.
He was born on Dec. 17, 1919, in Liberty, son of the late George and Emma (Hecker) Free. On June 12, 1946, he married the former Helen Fictum at Trinity Lutheran Church, town of Liberty. Harold was employed with the Mirro Aluminum Company as a metal roller until his retirement in 1983.
Survivors include his wife: Helen Free; two sons: Daniel Free and Gary Free, all of Manitowoc; one daughter and son-in-law: Debbie and Arthur Lange, Two Rivers; three grandchildren: Jason Free and his special friend, Marsha Ladd, Appleton, Joshua (Michelle) Free, Manitowoc, and Benjamin Free and his special friend, Maria Flores, Oshkosh; four great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law: Erhardt and Elaine Free, Manitowoc; and one sister and brother-in-law: Evelyn and Henry Carmody, Manitowoc. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was also preceded in death by two brothers and one sister-in-law: George Free and Erwin and Margaret Free.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 2, 2009, at The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Thomas Pankow, with burial at Knollwood Memorial Gardens, town of Kossuth.
The family will greet relatives and friends at The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from 10 a.m. on Monday, March 2, 2009, until the time of service at 11 a.m.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at the Manitowoc Health & Rehabilitation Center for their compassionate care and support given to Harold and his family.
