Early Surgeon of Los Angeles, California. Founding Member of the American College of Surgeons. Chief of Staff and Chief Surgeon at St. Vincent's Medical Center, Los Angeles, then known as the Sisters' Hospital, from 1904 to 1915. The son of Richard and Mary (Hennessy) Dillon of Los Angeles, Dr. Edward T. Dillon received his education at St. Vincent's College, class of 1897, and at the Medical Institute of Los Angeles, then affiliated with the University of Southern California, class of 1901. He was named chief surgeon for the southern division of the Southern Pacific Railroad in 1908, and he was for many years the regional surgeon for the Knights of Columbus, known for his generous devotion to charity. From 1913 until his death in 1938, he was the southwest division surgeon for the Standard Oil Company, in addition to his long service at St. Vincent's Hospital, where he died at age 61. Husband of Laura Lynn (Doran) Dillon, they married in 1907 and had two sons, Edward and Richard, and three daughters, Mary, Laura and Katherine.
