George King served with Company C, Fourth or 12th Georgia Cavalry during the War between the States. He enlisted at Cartersville, Georgia on January 1st, 1864 in the 4th Georgia Cavalry under Captain Jeff Johnson organized at the Pine Log School House. He surrendered May 12, 1865 at Kingston, Georgia. He applied for a pension October 23,1917 and A. C. Bell was the witness.

On June 25, 1868 George King married Sarah Bray in Cass County, Georgia. George King moved to Texas in the early 1880's and was a farmer in Johnson County, Texas. His farm was just outside Joshua Texas. Upon the death of his wife Sarah, George returned to Georgia and married Leona Hunt of Sonoraville, Gordon County Georgia. In 1917, George lived in RFD#1, Calhoun,GA. Upon Leona's death he returned to Texas and lived with his son, George, until his death. George died of diabetes and is buried next to his wife, Sarah and their son Albert at Caddo Cemetery, Joshua, Texas.
