Kathryn "Kate" Ellen Boyer Carroll, 91, of Frederick, MD and previously of Myersville, MD, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on December 22, 2018. Kathryn was the beloved wife of the late Joseph F. Carroll, her husband of 58 years.

She was born raised and married in Pasadena, MD. She was the daughter of Frank J. Boyer, Sr. and Virginia E. Hirsch Boyer, the fifth child of twelve. Her last surviving sibling is C. Bryant Boyer of Camden, DE. She was predeceased by eight well-loved brothers, Frank J., Jr., Donald H., Norval B., Eric B., Byron G., Harold G., Horace R., and Bernarr H. Boyer, and by her dear sisters, Carolyn V. Thomson Duncan, and Auda E. Boyer, for whom she cared for many years.

Kathryn was preceded in death by her first daughter, Nancy G. Mason, leaving a son-in-law, Donald E. Mason, granddaughter Elizabeth Mason & husband Brian, and their daughter, Genevieve. She is survived by her younger daughter, Wendy E. Skarda, her adored son-in-law Ed Skarda; and her beloved twin granddaughters Julie E. and Jennie L. Skarda, who cared for her throughout her illness. Kate will also be remembered by her step-grandchildren, Bryan E. Skarda and Michael E. Skarda (Jess), who fondly named her "Momma Kate". She was preceded in death by her step-granddaughter, Kristen Smith.

She enjoyed a close relationship with her nephew, Donald Boyer, Jr. & his wife Sharon, their son Monte, and their daughter Donna Gravvett (Dennis), with whom she enjoyed a special relationship. Kathryn is also survived by her brother-in-law, Charles Cochran, and sisters-in-law, Edna Schools and Irma Vajaranant, and by many nieces and nephews. Kathryn spent many joyful times with nieces Debi Rainey, Carolyn Flannary, Sharon Brandt, and Debbie Harris and their families.

Kathryn and her husband delightfully raised twenty foster children on their farm in Myersville, in the span of twenty years. They were awarded the distinction of Foster Family of the Year in the 1970's. In her last years, the attention of "her Ann", Laura Ann Fogle, and her daughter, Becky Fogle were cherished, and she enjoyed the company of grandsons Kenny, Richard, and Kevin Fogle. She will be remembered by her foster daughter Irene Tydings. One very devoted son, David Tydings, predeceased her in 1989. The regular phone calls from her son Eddie Carroll who lived long distance brought many smiles. Most of the other foster children popped in and out of her life over time.

Kathryn was a member of 58 years at Victory! Christian Center (Shookstown Assembly of God). Her best friend from church was Ellen Hartsock. She also had a special closeness with Eva Dell Pace. She taught many children in the primary class of Sunday school and helped in the girls' club. She added her strong soprano voice to the choir and congregational singing, and she organized and ran the kitchen and all food events as long as she was able. Although she spent her last years struggling with Alzheimer's, she never lost her ability to hug, kiss, sing or quote the many children's poems she shared with so many over her God-given years.

Many thanks are given to Daybreak Adult Day Services, Hospice of Frederick County, and Carroll County Hospice, and a special thanks to her aide Barb W. who cared for her like family, and her wonderful nurses. Her pastor, the Rev. V. Ashley Garland was with her when she passed.

Visitation will take place from 6 - 8 PM on Friday, December 28th at Victory! Christian Center, 7722 Edgewood Church Road, Frederick, MD 21702, where a funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 29th. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Frederick. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Victory! Christian Center at the above address.
