On November 6, 1960, he was united in marriage to Kathryn Klaeser at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Kiel. Don worked for Wilberscheid Fur Farm. He then went on to work for Metergas/Ferrell Gas in New Holstein until his retirement. During that time he also farmed in the town of New Holstein. Don was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. After his retirement, he enjoyed woodworking and wood carving. He loved to spend time gardening and fishing, but his greatest passion was farming.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years; Kathryn, daughters; Theresa (Bruce) Gaedke, New Holstein; and Barbara (Thomas) Immel, Malone; grandchildren; Justin (Fiancee Kelly Wallender) Gaedke, Ryan (Erin) Gaedke, Mathew Gaedke, Seth (Toriann) Immel, Zachary Immel, and Nicholas Immel; great-grandchildren: Eli, Bentley, Jaelyn, Jaxon, Natilie, Ryleigh, Olivea, and Lukis. Don is further survived by his sister; Mary Jane Biese, sister-in-law; Frances (Rocco) Voci along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harry and Elizabeth Klaeser, an infant brother; Robert, brothers; Sylvester Wagner, Francis (Aggie) Wagner, Joseph (Dolores) Wagner, a sister; Miranda (Jerome) Leitner, brothers-in-law; Clarence Biese, Richard (Bernice) Klaeser, sister-in-law; Janet (Sherman) McKay.
Funeral Mass for Don will be held at 12:00 pm on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church (1724 Madison St., New Holstein). A time of support and visitation will take place on Thursday at Church from 10:00 am until 11:45 am when brief family rites will be held before Mass at 12:00 pm. Entombment at Calvary Chapel Mausoleum, Manitowoc.
In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established in Don's name.
