John was the oldest child of Howard Mitchell Keithler and Adina Irene Clark.

John married Mary Corrine "Corky" Harker, 15 March 1941 in Sheridan, Wyoming; they had one daughter, Sharon Ann Keithler.

John died at age 29 of a pulmonary embolism.

Keithler - May 4, 1950, at Providence Hospital, John Keithler, of rte. 3, box 111, Vancouver, aged 29 years. Clark County resident past 8 years. Survived by his wife, Corrine Keithler, Vancouver; 1 daughter, Sharon A. Keithler, at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Keithler, Vancouver, and 1 sister, Mrs. Bill Smith, in Montana. Born June 5, 1920 in Montana. The remains have bee entrusted to the care of the Vancouver Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 5, 1950, at the Vancouver Funeral Chapel. Reverend Olin Graham will officiate. Vault interment will be in the Park Hill Cemetery.
