She attended Rigler Elementary School in the Killingsworth neighborhood where she was selected to represent that school as a Junior Rose Festival princess. Our mother, May, described her sister Eve with long ringlet curls (she had red hair) and their princes outfits looked like "Little Bo Peep" with pantaloons and a shepherd's crook.
Eve graduated in 1946 from Grant High School in Portland, and lived in her first apartment near Portland State University with her sister, May. She also introduced May to her future husband, Jim Riback, on a double-date to Wagon Wheel Park in Molalla, OR.
She came to Juneau, Alaska, in 1962, after first working in Ketchikan. We are not aware of how she met Henry (Allen) Collais, but on February 14, 1964 (Valentine's Day) they were married in Portland, OR. As Allen worked for the Alaska State Highway Division, they settled in Juneau, AK (near Lemon Creek) where they both lived for the rest of their lives.
Eve's hobbies were square dancing and sewed many of their square dancing costumes, gardening, and she amassed a huge collection of frogs. On March 4, she fell at home, was severely injured and died of head injuries in April.
She is survived by one sister, May (2009) and three nieces all of Oregon.
