US Congressman. He was elected as a Republican to represent Colorado's 4th Congressional District in the House of Representatives to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Congressman Edward T. Taylor, and served from 1941 to 1949. He previously has served as Colorado's Lieutenant Governor from 1922 to 1924, and unsuccessfully ran for Governor of the State in 1930.
