Irene G. (Thomas) (Coughlin) Cronin
September 30, 1922 - August 21, 2018

PEABODY - Irene Coughlin Cronin passed away at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers on August 21, 2018 at the age of 95.

Life:
Irene lived on the North Shore for the last several years, but her home and her heart remained in West Yarmouth on Cape Cod. Irene was adored by her family and friends. She always had a beautiful smile on her face and always put other people first, never hesitating to help anyone. Her demeanor was the perfect combination of sweet and strong-willed. Irene's heart and soul were dedicated to being a mother.

Irene was an award-winning golfer, and a longtime member of the Bass River Golf Club in Yarmouth. Irene was also an author and a true wordsmith - she loved to write, and had the ability to paint pictures with words. In addition to being an avid bridge player, Irene was also a competitive game player and loved playing card games, Scrabble and Words with Friends with her family.

Irene and her husband Albert Coughlin (late) raised their four children in Needham and on Cape Cod, where they ultimately retired and enjoyed going to the beach and spending time with their grandchildren.

Later in her life, after Albert passed away, Irene married Francis (Pat) Cronin (late). Irene and Pat lived on Cape Cod and in Ocala, Florida, and enjoyed playing golf and traveling.

Irene's family - her four children, ten grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and their families - was her pride and joy. Irene, or Grams as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren called her, is forever loved by her son Richard Coughlin (late) and his wife Janet of Milton, MA; her daughter Karen Peterson and her husband David of Loudon, TN; her daughter Dianne Capachietti and her husband Al of Danvers, MA; her son Steven Coughlin and his wife Joanne of Yarmouthport, MA; her grandson Matthew Peterson, his wife Sherry, and their sons David and Robby; her grandson Nathan Peterson, his wife Janell, and their sons Karsten and Koen; her granddaughter Rebekah Peterson; her grandson Rich Coughlin and his partner Cindy Valovcin; her granddaughter Cara Versace, her husband David, and their daughter Sophia; her granddaughter Alexandra Capachietti, her partner Tony Zurbrigg and their daughter Emma; her grandson AJ Capachietti and his partner Talina Villao; her granddaughter Caitlyn Coughlin and her fiancé Jeffrey Hall; her grandson Joseph Coughlin and his fiancé Patricia Vequetini; and her granddaughter Carly Coughlin.

Irene's family would like to thank the staff at the Kaplan Family Hospice House for their care and compassion during Irene's final days.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to attend Irene's funeral Mass, which will be held in St. Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant Street, Danvers on Saturday, August 25th at 11 A.M. Burial in Bourne National Cemetery is private. Assisting the family with the arrangements is the Peterson-O'Donnell Funeral Home, 167 Maple Street (Rt. 62), Danvers.
