Death.
APPEL.—On June 21st, 1899, at the residence
of her daughter (Mrs. Ebneter), Sussex
street (near Ferry street), Harriet, the
beloved wife of F. Appel, aged 61 years
Our very old and muoh respected resident; Mrs. F. Appel. senior, died yesterday morning with sad and shocking suddenness, at a time when apparently in the best of. health and spirits; Mrs. Appel rose about 7 o'clock, and went about her household duties quite brightly till about a quarter to eight, when she was suddenly seized with violent retching, followed immediately by an apoplectic stroke, under which she quickly sank, and expired at 10,30, some time before which unconsciousness had relieved all suffering.
The deceased lady had been one of our oldest residents. She was a native of Sydney, and first came to Maryborough 40 years ago, but returned south again. Thirty-three years ago Mrs. Appel came to this district once more with her husband and young family, and after residing many years at Yengarie, finally settled in Maryborough, where she remained till her death. Fifty years ago, as a girl. Mrs. Appel went to school at Trinity and St. Phillip's, Sydney, with our old and worthy citizen, Mr. E. Booker, senr., and her father was the oldest and one of the leading Masons of the day at his death. The deceased was mother of Mr. F. Appel, junr., Mrs. Ebneter, Mrs. Jorss (Bundaberg), and Mr. A. W. B. Appel, with whom great sympathy will be felt at their sad bereavement. The funeral takes place this afternoon..
