Rebecca Bell was born Chapmanville, Logan, West Virginia to John Bell and Martha Belcher. Her parents had moved to Logan during the Civil War, from Mercer, WV, when the town of Princeton, was burned to the ground. It was in Logan, that Becky will fall in love and get married to Jones A. Fowler in April 1888.
Jones was born in Boone County. He was a farmer by trade. Jones was only about 35 when he died before 1898. . Becky was left with 5 children. The oldest about 10. She married another Boone, WV, resident, Joseph B. Dotson, 9 years her junior in 1898. Joseph Dotson was tall and slender. Blue eyes and light brown hair. Joseph apparently didn't want the burden of another family, so 3 of Rebecca's childen moved in with her brother William (John, Polly, Jones). Millard and Dell went to live with his uncle, Paris Bell.
