Was aboard LST 523 when it hit a German mine and went down off Utah Beach killing 90+ men and wounding many.∼Dennis was in LST 523 with the 300th Engineers Combat Battalion assisting with D-Day activities when his LST struck a mine. All lives were lost. Dennis' body was never recovered from the water.
