After her 1916 marriage, she moved to Nashville, Tennessee where her husband was head of the mathematics department in Vanderbilt University's engineering school. She taught math at Ward Belmont College and was active in civic and charitable causes, including serving on Nashville's library board. In retirement, her husband and she resided with a son. The annual Wilson and Nellie Pyle Miser Award is presented to the Vanderbilt school of engineering graduating senior who has most excelled in mathematics during his or her undergraduate studies.
