Daughter of Philemon Charles Wederstrandt and Helen Smith, wife of John Dean Johnson and mother of C. Conrad, Bradish William, Theodore, Helen V., Eugene W., and Louis St. John Johnson.

In 1850, Helen W. Johnson, aged 26, was living in Islip, NY, with her husband, John D. Johnson, aged 33, and children, C. Conrad Johnson, aged 7, Braddish Johnson, aged 4, Theodore Johnson, aged 1, and servants, Ann Chapman, aged 30, Eliza Caviner, aged 24, Anna Taylor, aged 31, and Thomas Fishburn, aged 51, coachman. Her husband was shown to be a farmer.

Her father, Philomon Charles Wederstrandt (1779-1857), master commandant, U.S.N., 1808; War of 1812, died in 1857

In 1860, Hellen M. Johnson, aged 35, was living in Islip, NY, post office Islip, with her husband, John D. Johnson, aged 47, and children, Conrad C. Johnson, aged 16, Bradish Johnson, aged 14, Theodore Johnson, aged 12, Hellen Johnson, aged 6, Eugene Johnson, aged 4, and servants, David Trout, aged 45, Rachel Smith, aged 30, Ellen Walsh, aged 30, and Mary James, aged 21. John was shown to be a farmer.

In 1870, Hellen W. Johnson, aged 39, widowed, was living in Islip, NY, with her children, Helen V. Johnson, aged 17, Eugene W. Johnson, aged 13, and Louis St. John Johnson, aged 9.

In 1880, Hellen W. Johnson, aged 56, widowed, born in Louisiana, was living at 1 Liberty Pike, Baltimore, Maryland, with her children, C. Conrad Johnson, aged 35, a farmer, Bradish W. Johnson, aged 32, Hellen V. Johnson, aged 25, Eugene W. Johnson, aged 22, a Patent Attorney, and Louis S.T.J. Johnson, aged 17, who worked with telephones. She was shown to be a sugar refiner.
