Longtime Staten Islander Beverly M. Quinlan, 75, of Rosebank, a homemaker, died Friday in Staten Island University Hospital, Ocean Breeze.
Born Beverly Walker in West Brighton, Ms. Quinlan was the first baby born on the Island in 1928. She attended Notre Dame Academy of Staten Island from the first grade through her high school graduation in 1946.
Mrs. Quinlan worked for the Bell Telephone Co. before becoming a merchandise buyer for Lord & Taylor in Manhattan. She also modeled for the New York Institute of Photography in Manhattan in the late 1940s.
Mrs. Quinlan married T. Ronald Quinlan Jr. in 1950 and the couple moved to Grymes Hill that same year. In 1970, the family moved to Richmond and in 1996, Mr. and Mrs. Quinlan moved to Wickenburg, Ariz., before returning to the Island and settling in Rosebank in 1998.
Mrs. Quinlan was a musician who played the guitar, banjo and ukulele. She would play or sing whenever she had an opportunity to perform, and often that came at the Richmond County Country Club, where she was a member. She also was a member of Lords Valley Country Club in Lords Valley, Pa.
She was a volunteer at both Staten Island Hospital and Staten Island University Hospital for 25 years and was a member of the hospital's auxiliary. Mrs. Quinlan was a parishioner of St. Patrick's R.C. Church, Richmond.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, T. Ronald, and sons, T. Ronald Quinlan III and Stuart W. Quinlan.
The funeral will be Wednesday from The Harmon Home for Funerals, with a 10 a.m. mass in St. Patrick's Church, Richmond. Burial will follow in Moravian Cemetery, New Dorp.
