She is survived by 5 of her 6 children. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, in addition to several nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews. Surviving as well are three of her siblings. She was preceded in death by her parents; her youngest son, John Huckabee; brother, William McCullough, of Tampa, Fla.; and two grandsons, Joey Porter and Drew Faloona. Also preceding her in passing was Walter Huckabee, of Dallas, Texas, this past October 2018.
After attending Glen Osborne, Fair Oaks and Sewickley elementary schools, then Sewickley High School, Carol married and by age 23 was raising her six children. As a single mother at that point, she then continued her education, becoming a laboratory technician, and worked at Pittsburgh-area hospitals; then after 22 years at Sewickley Valley Hospital, continued to work as a lab tech for LabCorp, retiring in 2006.
Carol's later years were filled with church activities and traveling to visit her siblings in Florida and California. A loving daughter, sister and mother, she watched over and cared in her home for her parents, as well as her stepfather, Thomas McCrory, in their later years. Carol loved the word of God, and even in her last months could finish a scripture verse. An animal lover, her cats were always by her side, particularly Bella, a calico-colored neighborhood favorite. Carol's devotion to her family was her primary focus, and her caring nature was evident in her commitment to her parents, children and animals.
Visitation was on Monday, Dec. 17, at COLE FUNERAL HOME in Sewickley. Cremains interment services will be at Sewickley Cemetery in the spring of 2019, time to be determined.
Donations in her memory may be made to Alzheimer's research.
