Obituary.

Died, at his home two miles north of Burrton, August 4, 1897, Mr. Leicester Day, aged 74 years. Father Day was born in the state of Vermont, April 4, 1823; migrated to Ohio when a boy and was married to Miss Christine Curley on New Years's Eve, 1844. He moved to Wisconsin in 1855 and came to Kansas in 1871, where he has since resided.

He was an old soldier, and was among the first to respond to his country's call. Enlisted the 19th of August, '61, in Co. F, 7th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry Regiment, and was discharged September 1st, '64. He united with the Christian church in February '84, and was a faithful Christian until his death. He dwelt in the hearts of all who knew him, and was a good citizen, a faithful husband and an affectionate father.

The funeral services were conducted at the Christian church by the writer, after which a large concourse of people followed his remains to the city cemetery, where the soldiers laid him away with a very impressive ceremony.

He leaves to mourn his departure, a wife and seven children, three boys and four girls. The bereaved family has the sympathy of the entire neighborhood, as was manifested at the funeral. He is gong but not forgotten.
