During World War I he served his country from Oct. 2, 1917 to May 5, 1919, in which time he was in France as a wagoner with Company G of the 110th Ammunition Train.
On Mar. 16, 1921 he was united in marriage to Bernice Burns at Cedar Vale. To this union three children were born: Lewis Doniphen, who died in infancy, Edith Mae Scheuerman of Garden City, Kan., and Clarence M. of Howard, Kan.
In addition to the widow and children, he is survived by two granddaughters, Sharle and Pamela Carter of Howard, a son-in-law, daughter-in-law and two nephews.
