William L. Cook, 83, of Vanlue, passed away at 2:50 p.m., Wednesday, January, 9, 2019, at the Wyandot Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Upper Sandusky. He was born on February 27, 1935, in Hancock County to the late Orville, Sr. and Eva (LaRue) Cook. He married Georgia Farmer on May 22, 1952, and she preceded him in death on February 27, 2018. Bill is survived by his sons: Jerry (Linda) Cook of Batesburg-Leesville, SC, David "Randy" Cook of Vanlue and Brad (Kim) Cook of Vanlue; his daughter, Sherri (Mark) Goodman of Vanlue; his brother, Larry (Dreah) Cook of Tiffin; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his brothers: Orville, Jr., Ronald and Douglas; and his sisters: Dorothy Armstrong and Marjorie Secord. Bill retired from Cooper Tire and Rubber Company after 39 1/2 years, and was a lifetime farmer. He was the second generation to raise and show cattle, and was very active with the 5th generation today. He was a longtime member of the Cattemen's Association. Bill enjoyed teaching kids how to care for and fit show cattle, and was a former 4H advisor. He was a former youth baseball coach in Vanlue, enjoyed attending his children's and grandchildren's sporting events, and participated in many bowling leagues throughout his life. He was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan, NASCAR fan and mushroom hunter. He attended Findlay Evangelical Free Church, Findlay. Bill loved to take trips out west for vacation and to look at cattle. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 13, 2019, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay, with his nephew Rick Stafford officating. Burial will be in Lee Cemetery, Amanda Township. Visitation will be held from 2;00-5:00 p.m., Saturday at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hancock County 4H Program and/or Hancock County Cattlemen's Association.
