Husband of Cora May Hillyer.

Charles P. Hillyer, 77, a lifelong resident of this place, died yesterday in his home in Charles Street. Mr. Hillyer, a mason employed by Rogers and Gons Construction Co. of New Brunswick, was a member of many social, civic and religious groups. He was a Madison township committeeman for 12 years, three as chairman. A member of the Old Bridge Baptist Church, he was a trustee and had been made a life deacon. Mr. Hillyer belonged to Liberty Council 14, Sons and Daughters of Liberty of Perth Amboy; Old Bridge Volunteer Fire Co.; Eagle Council, 88, Jr. O.U.A.M. of Spotswood, which he had served as trustee and counselor; Middlesex County Past Counselors Association, Jr. O.U.A.M.; Bricklayers, Masons and Plasters International Union of America. He was president of P.O.S.A. of A., camp 129 and was superintendent of the Chestnut Hill Cemetery Association. Surviving are his daughter, Mrs. Evelyn De Hart, with whom he made his home; a grandson, Donald De Hart of the same address and a granddaughter, Mrs. Joan Butterline of New Brunswick. His wife was the late Cora May Hillyer. A service will be held Saturday at 2:30 p. m. In the Hulse Funeral Home, 455 Main Street, Spotswood. Interment will be In Chestnut Hill Cemetery here.

OLD BRIDGE, Feb. 8 - A large number of persons filled Hulse Funeral Home, Spotswood, Saturday afternoon to attend the funeral of Charles P. Hillyer, member of many social, civic and religious groups and township committeeman of Madison township 12 years, three as chairman. The Rev. Walter Mininger of Asbury Park, formerly pastor of Old Bridge Baptist Church, officiated. Interment was in Chestnut Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were Elwood Petty, Vernon Appleby, Dal Rue, Harold Hendrickson, Frank Heinzman and Archie Benham. Mr. Hillyer, lifelong resident here, died Wednesday in his home on Charles Street. He was the husband of the late Cora May Hillyer and made his home here with a daughter, Mrs. Evelyn De Hart.
