Ralph ("R.J.") died peacefully at home and survived by his loving husband of 38 years, Billy Nunes. RJ and Billy were legally married at home a month before RJ's passing. Also survived by youngest sister Jean, oldest brother Will, their children and grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents Bess and Buster Ballard, and brother Pat. An Oklahoma native, after high school RJ entered the Franciscan Monastery in Eureka, Mo., where he spent nine years. After leaving the priesthood, RJ moved to San Francisco where he met Billy, "the best thing that ever happened to me" and they later moved to Guerneville, operating Ballard & Nunes Home Repair for 20 years. After retirement, they moved to Santa Rosa.

He was our rock. We are in gratitude for his life and we miss him every day. May he rest in peace.
