Robert Tucker was born on November 11, 1922, and passed away on January 13, 2019. Dr. Tucker grew up on a cotton farm in Union Parish. He was one of the eight children of Francis Marion Tucker and Mary Norris Tucker. He attended Central School, and he graduated from Farmerville High School.

During World War II, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in September 1943. After training, he was transferred to the Fleet Marine Force and served as a Navy Corpsman with the Third Marine Division on Guam and Iwo Jima. His next assignment would have been to participate in the invasion of Japan when the war ended.

Dr. Tucker received his B.S. degree from Louisiana Tech and his medical degree from LSU Medical School in New Orleans. He practiced medicine for 55 years in Shreveport, specializing in Obstetrics and Gynecology. He loved being a doctor and really enjoyed the practice of medicine. During his career, he delivered hundreds, perhaps thousands, of babies. He seldom took a vacation, but when he did, he always spent a few days on his farm, feeding his cows and walking among the pine trees.

He grew up attending Zion Hill Baptist Church in Farmerville. He was a long-time member of Highland Baptist Church in Shreveport and later First Baptist Church.

Dr. Tucker was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, and four brothers.

He is survived by his lovely wife of over 60 years, Jackie Tucker; his daughter, Betty Tucker; his daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Eric Brooks; and his daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Kyle Wheeler; his grandchildren, Cullen Brooks, Emily Brooks, Jonathan Brooks and his wife, Jordan, and Trent Brooks and his wife, Kel; and one great-grandchild, Shepherd Henry Brooks.

Pallbearers will be Dr. John Waterfallen, Dr. E.B. Robinson, Gene Tucker, Kyle Wheeler, Eric Brooks, Jonathan Brooks, Cullen Brooks, Trent Brooks, David Tucker, Vance Neathery, and Nolan Neathery. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Donny Tucker, Ray Odom, Ira Taylor, Boyce Elkins, and Gayle Hamilton.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to all who helped care for him in his final years.
