Professional Football Player. For seven seasons (1964 to 1971), he played at the guard and tackle positions in the American and National Football Leagues with the Buffalo Bills. Born Joseph Raymond O'Donnell, he made his initial impression on the football field during his years at Milan High School in Michigan. He played collegiate football at the University of Michigan, prior to being selected by the Green Bay Packers during the 3rd round of the 1964 NFL Draft. He ended up signing with the Buffalo Bills with who he contributed to two AFL Championships (1964 and 1965). O'Donnell distinguished himself individually when he achieved AFL All-Star honors in 1965. Later in his career, he served as a blocker for Hall of Fame running back O.J. Simpson. O'Donnell extended his professional career an additional two years, when he played for the Birmingham Americans/Vulcans of the World Football League (1974 to 1975). After retiring from football, he operated a floor covering business and served as an analyst on University of Michigan Football radio broadcasts. O'Donnell was a highly respected figure within his community.
