Donald was a member of the French High School class of '65, and the U.S. Naval Reserve; he was Honorable Discharged.
He was a pipefitter with Local 195 for 15 years before leaving to form his own enterprise, Abbott's Janitorial Service. Donald was a festival/fair vendor and performed as a mime and clown during Mardi Gras, both locally and across Louisiana. Health issues forced him to retire early. Don was an avid fisherman & viewer of golf. He was always happy when he could put a smile on your face.
Donald is preceded in death by his parents, Geraldine and James Abbott. Donald is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Sharon Keels Abbott; his 3 daughters, Reena Abbott Cook, and husband, Douglas of Independence, KS, and Houston, TX; Sheri Rogers Ford, and husband, Keith, of Vidor, TX, and Sandra Rogers Griffin, and husband, James, formerly of Vidor, TX, now Alamosa, CO; a son, James Wesley Abbott, and wife, Kay, of Clear Lake, TX; a brother, Dr. James Ron Abbott, and wife, Lillian, of Webster, TX; a sister, Beverly Ann Martinez; 9 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.
