The daughter of Joel and Ann (Barnett) Ballard. She first married in Hendricks County on July 28, 1853 to Watson Hadley. They had one son, Everett Hadley. Watson died about 2 years after their marriage leaving her a widow and a single mother. She later married Harrison B. Heiner on March 18, 1868 in Marion County and moved to Nebraska. She returned to Indiana and lived in Hamilton County, Marion County and Morgan County (unsure of the order). For a period after the death of her father, she cared for her widowed mother and her invalid sister. Eventually she moved to Tennessee with her son, H. B. Heiner, from her second marriage. That is where she was living when she died from asthma and dropsy. She was returned to Mooresville for burial beside her sister, Theodate Ballard.

Her parents are buried at Fairfield Friends Cemetery.
