She was the daughter of Henry Clay Back and Bertha Gibbs. She first married John S. Wells on 7-28-1892, and they had two children. But he died in 1902. In 1905, she married Levi Ferguson Byrd and she had several children with him. She died in Los Angeles and her body was brought home to Kentucky for burial.
