John R. Ronan, 76, of Ashland, Wis. died Jan. 19, 1998 at Memorial Medical Center.

Mr. Ronan was born June 19, 1921 in Highland Park, the son of Francis and Nadine Ronan. He was in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves and served in the Pacific during World War II. Mr. Ronan married Marion L. Tutland on Feb. 25, 1978 in Downers Grove. He worked as a salesman for Crouse Cartage Co., Iowa. He retired and moved to Ashland in 1988. Mr. Ronan was a member of the American Legion, Highland Park. He enjoyed reading and golfing.
Survivors include his wife, Marion; his daughter, Ann (David) Owens of Atlanta; his son, Andrew (Mary) Ronan of Illinois; his step-son, James Shute of Elgin; his step-daughters, Lynda (Michael) Brunner of Watertown, Wis. and Lori (John) Kwiatkowski of Downers Grove; his two grandchildren; his seven step-grandsons; and many nieces and nephews.
