James A. Smith, a section worker for the Frisco railroad, died in the company hospital in St. Louis this morning following an illness with pneumonia. He was nearly 40 years old.
Mr. Smith was taken ill about two weeks ago and when his condition became serious the early part of last week he was sent to the hospital, where every attention was given him, but he continued to decline until the end came today.
