Funeral of United States Army Officer at Bradford, VT
Bradford, VT- April 8-The funeral of Maj Harry B Chamberlain USA took place at Hotel Low at 3:30 Saturday afternoon. Remarks were made by Rev. C. E. French of Newbury and burial was in the family plot. He was born in Newbury, VR Nov 1, 1862 the soon Ezra B and Elizabeth Bayley Chamberlian. He was educated at St Johnsbury Academy. April 6, 1892, he was married to Miss Katherine Gilmore, daughter of the late W. H. Gilmore, quartermaster general of Vermont. When the Spanish-American War broke out he went South with the 1st Vermont Regiment. In 1898 he was transferred to the Regular Army, where he was soon promoted to quartermaster. Maj Chamberlin died March 30 in the post hospital at Fort Bayard, NM. He leaves a wife and one daughter, Miss Dorothy, who are now living in Springfield, MA; a mother and a sister, Mrs. Georg C Fabian, who reside in Newbury, VT
