Betty Jean Arnold, age 88, a longtime resident of Lexington, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2019. She was born in West Liberty, Kentucky, on August 23, 1930, the daughter of the late Eula Elam Combs and Edward Combs, both of West Liberty. Betty graduated from Morgan County High School in 1948. She was an avid gardener and walker and loved dining out at Lexington restaurants with her husband, Bud. Betty was a friend to everyone she met. She treated all people with kindness and compassion, whether it was a waitress at a restaurant or a nursing technician taking care of her. She had a unique way of making people laugh and feel loved and special. She was a member of Cynthiana Christian Church, in Cynthiana, Kentucky.

She was preceded in death by her: husband, Thomas "Bud" Arnold, who was the love of her life and best friend; sister, Maxine Combs; and brother, Ralph Combs. Betty is survived by her: sister, Louise Combs Ratliff; two sons, Thomas G. Arnold (Kathy) and Daniel L. Arnold (Beth); beloved grandchildren, Alexa Arnold, Hannah Winters and Julia Arnold; and great-grandsons, Campbell Winters and Wells Winters.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 16, at Ware Funeral Home, 910 US Highway 27 N, Cynthiana, Kentucky 41031. Dr. Larry Bishop will officiate, with burial to follow at Battle Grove Cemetery, in Cynthiana. A luncheon will be held immediately following both services at Cynthiana Christian Church, 202 North Main Street, Cynthiana, Kentucky 41031.
