Vernon Roy Beatty, age 69, died peacefully in his home on March 9, 2018, in Ridott, Illinois, after a 7 year fight with cancer. He shared 44 years of marriage with his wife, Diane. Born in Alameda, California on August 20, 1948, he was the first born of Curtis Clark Beatty and Betty Beatty (Haemig). Vern grew up in Southern California and then Livingston, Montana, and attended Montana State University with a focus on Engineering. He graduated 1971 with a Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering. He then started his lifelong career as an Aerospace Mechanical Engineer.

Vern worked a combined 30 years with UTC Aerospace Systems as a Structural Analyst Specialist Mechanical Engineer in the Space Systems division. He had the privilege to work on many projects through the years, of which his favorites were being involved in the Return to Flight project after the 2003 Columbia disaster, various space shuttle programs, and multiple projects for Boeing. Vern was known for his response when being asked when he would complete a work project or task, "It will be done when I am finished". Vern more often opted to take the time to complete projects fully regardless of deadlines. Therefore, he was known for producing top quality results in his job of which his customers came to rely on and trust.
As a husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, Vern is remembered for his quick wit and always being a comedian. Many now speak of the valued guidance and wisdom that he provided personally; Vern did not loudly proclaim these strengths to others and touched many lives unannounced. He valued his time spent with his children going fishing, both freshwater and deep sea fishing in Florida. He always enjoyed talking about sports, attending sports event when he could, and making memories through hunting experiences. He also greatly enjoyed his yearly trips to monster truck jams and tractor pulls with his grandsons, and the time that the grandchildren spent at the family farm especially when giving them rides on the lawn mower.

He is survived by his wife Diane, his four children, Christopher, Jeffrey (Melissa), Elizabeth, and Dawn (Brendan); four grandchildren; his sister Leona Parriott (Joe Parriott) and their daughter Jennifer of Livingston, Montana, and his niece Christy Beatty and her children of Livingston, Montana. He was predeceased by his father Curtis Clark Beatty, his mother Betty Beatty (Haemig), and his brother Doug Beatty.

Funeral ceremonies will be held at 11:30 a.m., Friday, March 16, 2018 in First Baptist Church, 7th Street and Washington Street, Pecatonica, IL with Pastor David Myers officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of ceremony Friday. Burial will be in Pecatonica Cemetery, Pecatonica, IL following the funeral ceremony.

Memorial donations will be received to be donated in honor of Vern Beatty for prostate cancer research through the Gateway for Cancer Research for the Cancer Treatment Centers of America.
