Edna Mae “Shorty” Brinsfield of Eufaula, OK passed away at her home on Friday, January 25, 2019 with her loving family gathered around her at the age of 96. She was born to Winfred and Mae (Braxton) Beaver in Arkansas on Wednesday, January 17, 1923. Shorty and her family moved to Oklahoma while she was still a baby in a covered wagon pulled by a team of horses. She met and married Vance Brinsfield on Wednesday, September 22, 1943. Shorty was a wonderful wife, doting grandmother, and a great cook. She was a member of the Lindsey Chapel Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Judy Smith; brothers; James, Dyton, Donald, and Hubert Beaver; Sister Faye Hadley. She is survived by her husband Vance of the home Daughter: Carol Clay and husband Gayln of Greenville, TX; Grandsons: Jody Smith of Red Oak, TX, David Smith of Ashburn, VA; Granddaughters: Tonya Hughes and husband Dallas of Cedar Hill, TX, Sonya Boone and husband Mackey of Red Oak, TX; Grandson: Neil Clay and wife Tanya of Dallas, TX; Great grandchildren: Cooper Clay, Georgia Clay, Aaron Boone, Josh Boone, Jessica Smith; Brothers: Everett Beaver and wife Janelle of Kiowa, OK, Oliver Beaver of Bakersfield, CA, Ronald Beaver and wife Doris of Checotah, OK; Sister in laws: Thelma Helton and Bonnie Beaver; Son in law: Wayne Smith, and many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Viewing will be from 9AM – 6PM on Monday, January 28, 2019 with her family greeting friends from 4-6PM at Garrett Family Funeral Home. Services celebrating the life of Edna will be held at 1PM on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at Lindsey Chapel Baptist Church with Reverend Tim Turner and Clay Turner officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow in Triplett Cemetery under the personal direction of John Garrett. Harold Roberts, Mark Beaver, Danny Ray Brinsfield, Bob Brinsfield, John Beaver, and Daniel Brinsfield will serve as Casket Bearers. Tim Davis, Dennis Davis, Gene Beaver, and Mark Blackwell will serve as Honorary Casket Bearers.
