Julius Otto Sanwald was born on a farm northwest of Varna, August 27, 1902, the son of Otto and Elizabeth Range Sanwald. He was reared and received his schooling in the Varna community. He never married; but made his home with his friends, the Lee Richardson family.
About four years ago, Mr. Sanwald went to Granville, living at the Richardson home, finding employment at various occupations thereabouts. Though not having been in that community a great length of time, he nevertheless has made a goodly circle of friends, all of whom regarded him as an honest and neighborly character. It is doubtful if Mr. Sanwald had a single enemy, which is in itself a fine compliment to give any man.
Due to exposure, the deceased contracted pneumonia, from the effects of which he finally succumbed on Monday morning, March 2, 1936, having reached the age of only 33 years, 6 months and 4 days.
He leaves to mourn his passing, five sisters and two brothers; Mrs. Ernest Ahlstrom of Lacon; Bernhard Sanwald of Hinsdale; mrs. Frank K. Powell of Tonica; Mrs. William Thompson of Lacon; Mrs. Daton McKeel of Mater, WI; Miss Emma Sanwald of Tonica; and Victor Sanwald of Lacon. He also leaves several nieces and nephews and many friends.
Funeral services were conducted at the Dysart Funeral Home in Granville by the Rev. Arden, Swedish Lutheran minister.
Interment was in the MYERS CEMETERY north of Varna, IL.
