GALENA, KANSAS: June L Charles, age 81, passed away at 7:35 pm, Monday January 28, 2019 at her home following an illness.
June was born June 13, 1937 in Chetopa, KS. Her parents were Charles and Josie (Karr) Hendryx.
She graduated from Galena High School with the Class of 1955. As a young woman, she moved to California. While there, she worked for 20 years making insulin pumps at Mimi Med corporation. She moved back to Galena in 1999.
Among her interests were crocheting, genealogy and playing Farmville.
June was married to John Charles on July 23, 1962 in Bentonville, Arkansas. He preceded her in death March 18, 2003. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one son, Johnny Charles, and her brother, Sam Hendryx and wife, Janet.
She is survived by two daughters, Laura Charles and Julie Hendryx (husband, Melvin) both of Galena; one grandson, James Hagmann, Rialto, CA, one honorary granddaughter, Alexis Garth, Joplin, MO and a host of extended family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 -2:30 pm, Friday, February 1. 2019 at Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 pm, Friday, February 1, 2019 at Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS. Chaplain Johnie Adkins will officiate.
