Howard Anthony, born to parents Almon Anthony and Ethel Anthony on December 14, 1935, passed away on January 9, 2019, at the age of 83, in Yuba City.
Howard was born in Bentonville, Arkansas, and moved to District 10 at a young age with his family. He graduated from Marysville High School in 1954, and graduated from Cal Poly and Chico State. He married Ruth Sutfin in January of 1959 and remained married to her until her death in September of 2018.
He began his career in education as a teacher at Bridge Street School and then moved on to Park Avenue. He became a principal at April Lane and completed his career at Central Gaither. He continued to work after his retirement from education at Sunsweet Growers. He was a member of Kiwanis for many years. He was owner, with several others, of several airplanes. They went by the Flying X-Rays. Howard loved to garden and travel, both with his beloved wife Ruth.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife Ruth; son Edward; sisters, Maxine Pemelton and Pauline Miller; and brother Richard.
He is survived by one sister, Louise Smallen; and two brothers, Charles Anthony and Cleo (Dinah) Anthony; as well as three children, Arthur (Charyl), Charles and George (Tracey) Anthony. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Alexis (Johnny) and Charlotte; and one great-grandchild, Julianna; as well as several nieces and nephews.
