born Caroline Schneider, she was left at the New York Foundling Home shortly after birth. As part of the Orphan Train system, at age 2 she was "adopted" by the McKeever family in Greensburg, PA, along with her adopted brother John Patrick McGovern. The McKeevers renamed her May McKeever, and her adopted brother Arthur Patrick McKeever. Her brother changed his name back to his birthname in adulthood, although May's family always called him "Uncle Arthur." He is buried, along with his wife, with his sister May & her family in the Greenan plot at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
