George Steffens was born in Prussia 3 May 1843. He married Anna Wilhelmina Sauer in Houston, Texas on 28 Mar 1874 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church. Their marriage was blessed by 7 children: Anna Maria Steffens, Louise Steffens Nichols, John Frederick Steffens, Adolph Steffens, Anna Steffens Perkins, August W. Steffens, and Clara Lena Steffens Archer. He was a tailor by trade and lived in Houston from around 1874 until his death. He died in Houston 4 Jul 1914 and is buried in the old historic Washington Cemetery.
