Donell Bradford Bearden, 72 of Taylor died March 4, 2005 at the Temple VA Hospital. Services will be 2 PM, Sunday at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Pastor David Tietz officiating. Burial will follow at Taylor City Cemetery.

Donell Bearden was born on December 11, 1932 to Bradford and Daisy Mae (Stevens) Bearden in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He married Eleanor Bachmeyer on October 1, 1956 in Nolanville, Texas. This marriage was blessed with five daughters. He proudly served in the United States Army for 21 years. He was a veteran of the Korean War and the Viet Nam War, receiving numerous medals and commendations during his career. Donell retired in 1972 as a Chief Warrant Officer and made Taylor, Texas his home and opened the Taylor Lawn Mower Shop which he operated along with his wife Eleanor for twenty two years. Don was an active member in the St. Paul Lutheran Church and American Legion Post 39 in Taylor. He will be remembered for his love of cooking as he participated with friends in local barbeque cook offs. Don's compassion and love for people earned him the nickname "Daddy Don".

Don was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Eleanor in 1999; two daughters Sherry Lynn Bearden, Sandra Kim Bigon; a son-in-law, Louis D. Baker; and a brother, V. C. Bearden.

He is survived by his daughters, Pam Baker, Beverly Turner and her husband Butch, and Linda Finn, all of Taylor; a sister, Sue Armour and husband, Joe of Broken Bow, OK; grandchildren, Donell Bearden, II and wife Coty, Chrystal Rivison and husband Todd, Trey Turner, Tiffany Balusek and husband Matt, Clayton Turner, Jaime Bigon, Amanda Finn, Rachel Finn, Jimmy Bigon II, Emily Turner, Bradley Finn, Addison Turner, Paige Moya; great grandchildren, Dalton and Cailee Bearden, Chasity Balusek; and a godson, Bob Aderhold.

Pallbearers will be Donell Bearden II, Trey Turner, Clayton Turner, Jimmy Bigon II, Bradley Finn and Bob Aderhold.
