Married Marion Janine Thomas.Billie Ward Barefoot was born in Montrose, Colorado to Billie Jack Barefoot and Patricia Darlene Barefoot on June 8, 1953. Billie, known by all as Coach Barefoot, played football all 4 years of high school and was first introduced to the sport of wrestling as a sophomore at Globe High School in 1968-69. This was the first year that GHS had a wrestling program. He continued to wrestle through his senior year. He was offered a scholarship to Arizona Western Junior College where he studied and competed for two years. As the son of an employee of Inspiration Consolidated Copper, Cyprus Mining company he was offered a summer job and on completion of his Associate's Degree was offered a fulltime position. Ultimately he married and had a daughter Christie and a son Billie Robert. Billie worked in many capacities in various departments for 36 years. Over the course of his working years, he coached wrestling at both Miami and Globe High Schools as well as assisting at Globe Junior High and the Gila Monster (USA Wrestling Freestyle) wrestling club. In 2009, he was offered early retirement. Since his retirement, he traveled extensively with his wife Janine and returned to coaching wrestling. He has been head Wrestling Coach at Globe high School for the last 7 seasons and he founded the Gila Wrestling Club, coaching young men and women ages 4-18. Wrestling in the area is his lasting legacy, touching numerous lives; teaching work ethic, discipline, respect for self and others. In lieu of flowers, the Coach Barefoot memorial Fund has been established to Continue his efforts
