Elias Kupczyk of Dauphin, Manitoba, passed away in the Dauphin General Hospital, on Saturday, January 21, 1989 at the age of 91 years. Elias was bom in Poland and came to Canada with his family and settled at Sclater, Manitoba. Elias was raised in the Sclater district. He married Justina (Jessie ) Olinyk in 1925 at Sclater. He was employed with the C.N.R. as section foreman and after 45 years of service, retired in June of 1962, to Sifton, Man., where he resided till 1984 when they moved to Dauphin. He had resided at the Happy Haven Senior Citizens’ residence till the time of his death. He was a member of the Dauphin St. George’s Ukrainian Greek Orthodox Church. He was predeceased by his wife Jessie on February 8,1987; one daughter Olga of Santa Barbara, California. He is survived by one son William and wife Marion of Abbotsford, B.C.; one daughter Irene Reinbold of Brandon; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Fred Yurkiw, Stan Saramaga, John Berry, Bill Kupczyk Jr., Martin Ganchar, and Dave Mark. Very Rev. I. Trufyn officiated at the funeral service held on Wednesday, January 25,1989 in the Dauphin St. George’s Ukrainian Greek Orthodox Church. Interment took place in the Riverside Cemetery.
