On a beautiful, sunny, and warm Sunday afternoon, February 3rd, 2019 A.D., Lula Burnham Crane, age 67, of Trussville, AL, left this Earth and took flight with a new healthy body on her heavenly wings and moved into Heaven with her Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus.

Lula resided with her daughter, Keely, in Trussville, Alabama, and was a serving Wife, nurturing Mother, loving ‘Nonnie’, dear Sister, faithful Highlands Dream-teamer, delightful Family to many but earnest Friend to all. Lula fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith.

Lula graduated from Corner High School in 1971. She lived in the Kimberly and Gardendale areas but moved to Trussville in 2016. Although she retired from Regions Bank in Gardendale in 2017, she loved her co-workers and customers dearly. She was a loyal and committed employee who, worked hard, came in early, and stayed late.

She was a dedicated member and Dream Teamer at Church of the Highlands in Irondale, Alabama. She so loved people and developed a deep affection and appreciation for her small groups, the leaders, and all the ladies in them.

She was the best Mother and Nonnie who showed un-conditional love and forgiveness, everyday. She spared no expense in treating her children and grandchildren. Her love for her family, especially her 6 grandchildren, was immeasurable and will not ever be forgotten. She was lovingly called ‘Nonnie’ by them all and her favorite activity was literally doing anything that involved spending time with her grandchildren. Nonnie’s onion pie, chicken & dressing, and desserts were delicious and well known, nearly even world-wide. Lula loved to ‘chalk paint’ furniture and spruce up a living space with gorgeous decorations and bible verses.

Diseases of the Heart burdened her body in her final years but she was always Strong and Courageous in her fight to stay here with those she loved. She often recited, “Be Strong and Courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” ~ Joshua 1:9. Despite this, Lula was known for her big smile and loving heart. Earthly diseases may have plagued her physical heart but her spiritual heart only grew bigger and stronger with each opportunity to love someone new.

If you knew Lula, you were her friend and you have little doubt as to how much she cared about you. Her love extended well beyond you to everyone you also loved. She was a true Servant, in every sense of the word, she simply loved serving people. Lula looked for opportunities to reach out and show Christ’s love those who were hurting.

She was preceded in death by her son, Daniel L. Odom (1978), father, Harry L. Burnham (1983), mother, Verla M. Burnham (2004) and sisters, Norma Lyda (2012) and Opal Dollar (2014), who all moved to Heaven before her.

She dearly loved her late husband, Harry J. Crane, of Gardendale, who preceded her in death in 2016.

She is survived by her Children, Keely Wright (Matt Wright), Timothy Crane, Lisa Crane-Hebert (Gil), and Bethany Sidoti (Jeff); grandchildren, Grayson Sidoti, Skylar Sidoti, Cruz Hebert, Saxon Sidoti, Kinsley Wright and Mattie Wright; sisters, Gail Blackman, Shirley Taylor, Mary Cruce, Phyllis Stewart, and Connie Duncan, brothers, Richard Thomas and Henry Burnham as well as dozens of nieces and nephews, and countless friends who will miss her dearly until they meet once again, united in Christ.

Lula was a faithful Christian who loved her family and her Jesus with all of her heart, mind, and power. The scripture that she believed in and often recited with her late husband was found in the 2nd Book of Timothy Chapter 4, Verse 7, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” If Lula could, she would have personally invited you to join her in Heaven.
