Catherine was the daughter of Frederick Beltz and Sarah Knupp. She married William Livingston on 11 December 1862 in Knox County, Ohio. Catherine died from acciden5al lye poisoning. According to the 1900 census she had given birth to 10 children. The known children were: Eliza J., Suisan, Mary Ellen, Sophrona ""Frona", Rose, Jacob, John and Odius "Odie ".
