Joan A. (Doherty) Bartley, age 73, died Monday, Jan. 5, 2008, at St. Peter's University Hospital, New Brunswick. She was 73 years old.
Born in Staten Island, she lived in Sayreville before moving to Monroe Township in 1972.
She was the owner of J.T.'s Clip and Dip, a dog grooming service which she operated for 12 years. Recently she was a floor lady at the Lennox Warehouse in Cranbury for 10 years. She was a member of St. James Roman Catholic Church, Jamesburg, the Sayreville chapter of Columbiettes, and the American Kennel Club.
Her husband, William T. Sr., died in 1993.
Surviving are three sons, William T. Jr. and his wife, Rose, Thomas P. and his wife, Lisa, and Jason W. and his wife, Susan, all of Monroe Township; two sisters, Mary Margaret Blaylock of Hamilton Township and Kathleen Swanson of South Amboy. She is also survived by nine loving grandchildren, Elizabeth, Sarah, Victoria, Lindsay, Kaitlyn, Laura, Allison, Emily and J.J.
Funeral services will begin at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, from M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, 205 Rhode Hall Road, Monroe Township. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. James Roman Catholic Church, Jamesburg. Interment will follow at Fernwood Cemetery, Jamesburg. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7.
