A funeral service in his honor will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, February 18, 2019 at Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL 61938; Pastor Beau Shedd will officiate. A committal service will immediately follow at Johnathan Creek Cemetery in Sullivan, IL. A visitation will be held Sunday evening, February 17, 2019 from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Kim was born July 12, 1957 in Decatur, IL to the late Teddy and Jean Louise (Gilbert) Abbott. He was a conductor for CSX Railroad until his retirement in 2009 and member of United Transportation Union (UTU) for thirty years. He was a devout Christian and member of the original Mattoon Christian Church. During his younger years, Kim was a four year letterman in high school sports. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, training bird dogs, and raising quail.
Kim was a proud member of Ducks Unlimited, The National Wild Turkey Federation, Friends of Reservoirs for Shelbyville Lake, Mt. Caramel Quail Club, Central Illinois Crappy Club, and Amateur Trapshooting Association. Kim had many achievements in his life and was honored to shoot in the 100th Anniversary of Grand National Trap Shoot.
