Gage Paris Borgwardt, 19, passed away on February 11, 2019 in Spokane, WA. Gage was born on March 20, 1999 to Trista Borgwardt in Rapid City, SD. Gage graduated from Rapid City Central High School with honors in 2017. He was attending the School of Mines and Technology for Chemical Engineering.
Gage was a motivated and extremely intelligent young man. He had countless achievements in his 19 years both in the academic setting and his personal life. He was successful at anything and everything he put his mind to. His academic achievements include numerous Knowledge Bowl and Science Bowl competitions, math competitions and volunteering to tutor others.
Gage worked hard throughout his high school years and made it into the National Honor Society. His academic achievements earned him scholarships to SDSM&T delivered personally by the President of the University. He was designated as an Elks National Foundation Most Valuable Scholar earning him a scholarship for attending college. Due to Gage's hard work and dedication in high school, he started his first year of college with 24 college credits.
Gage was known for his kind and loving nature. He was a relatively quiet man, but he was fiercely loyal and was always willing to help others. He was a mentor for others and a natural born leader. He loved to go fishing and would stand for hours in the rain doing just that. He also enjoyed camping, hiking with his uncle, playing video games online with his friends, playing Minecraft with his brother and going to movies with his Grandpa. He loved to draw and show us the incredibly in-depth math equations he was working on in college. Rubik's cubes were one of his favorite hobbies and he could solve them with his eyes closed.
