Aunt Esther was my grandmother's sister. She was the only other sibling, besides her sister Myrtle who lived with my grandparents, who lived in Omaha. I can remember Grandma and Aunt Es fighting tooth and nail about something, but the bond as sisters always drew them back together.
Aunt Es was sick all the time. She had cancer, diabetes, and heart problems, but she was the feistiest old woman I knew! She worked as a hairdresser - and gave me some of the worst perms I ever had in my life - God bless her! She also had a ceramic studio in her house, which totally enthralled me. She and Uncle John lived in a HUGE sprawling house that has since been torn down, but I remember spending many hours visiting with my grandparents.
